Backstory

Drexler Vandecor Malachai was a paradox wrapped in silk and velvet. Publicly, he was a flamboyant academic and collector of pre-Sundering antiquities, residing in the sprawling Malachai Manor on Verokha Prime. He spent his days hosting lavish galas for the Trade Constellation elite and his nights poring over rusted blueprints from the lost Terran Empire.

However, this persona was a calculated fabrication. Drexler was a high-ranking intelligence broker for the Mortal Veil, using his shipping connections to smuggle experimental weaponry under the noses of the Red Sun Dominion. He possessed a rare, latent psionic sensitivity—a trait shared by his nephew, Santiago Zieme —which allowed him to interface with dormant ancient technology in ways normal humans could not.

Recently, the Dominion grew suspicious of his operations. To protect the network and his nephew, Drexler orchestrated his own 'death' via a shuttle accident in the Verokha atmosphere. Through pre-written instructions given to his loyal servant Elaria Thornewood , he continues to pull the strings of sector politics, guiding Santiago as the ultimate weapon to break the Dominion's hold on Sector 36.

Description

Drexler is a striking figure, standing tall with a posture that suggests he is looking down on the world, regardless of who he is speaking to. His face is aristocratically sharp, with high cheekbones and a well-groomed, pointed beard that frames a cruel, thin mouth. His eyes are a piercing, unnatural shade of violet—likely a cosmetic bio-mod or a side effect of his psychic sensitivity—peering out from under dark, arched brows. He dresses in the fashion of a bygone era, favoring high-collared coats of midnight blue and silver embroidery that conceal flexible ballistic mesh. One hand usually rests on a silver-topped cane, which doubles as the emitter for his magnetic field generator.
