The Cinders coalesced from the desperate youth haunting the slums of Verokha, orphans born of the technocratic infighting that scarred their planet's post-Sundering history. Initially a loose collective of copper wire thieves and scavengers, they clawed out an existence in the shadows. It was on 05 May 4137 that Koil, a shadowy tactician, unified these scattered souls. He claimed the ruins of The Cradle, a pre-Sundering hydroponic nursery, as their sovereign territory, transforming them into a nascent, organized faction.
For years, The Cinders operated as the clandestine eyes and ears of the Red Sun Dominion on Verokha, a planet largely dominated by the bureaucracy of the Trade Constellation. They provided invaluable intelligence, including shipping manifests and movements of high-value targets. This crucial information even exposed the double agent Renlo Dannis, solidifying their lucrative arrangement with the Dominion.
However, their covert operations came crashing down in late 4159. A brutal counter-intelligence purge was launched by the mercenary crew known as Misfortune's Gambit, allied with the anti-Dominion insurgent Thorne Balesworth and his Gears. The Cinders were systematically decimated during this period, their safehouses burned and their carefully constructed leadership structure shattered.
The official records declared the faction disbanded on 22 November 4159. In the wake of this devastating assault, the few survivors retreated deep into the overgrown, humid tunnels of The Cradle. Embracing their small-time reputation as a survival mechanism, they now feign harmless incompetence. While the galaxy focuses on the grand clash between the Mortal Veil and the Dominion, The Cinders are scavenging the wreckage, slowly rebuilding their ranks with the disaffected and the forgotten, waiting for the perfect moment to prove that a small spark can indeed burn down an empire.
