The Null Hypothesis, a faction whose precise founding remains unknown, began as a subtle act of defiance in the intellectual heart of Gelime. It emerged from the breakrooms of the planet's universities, a loose collective of archivists and scientists. Their initial resistance against the Red Sun Dominion occupation took the form of malicious compliance, designed to subtly hinder the invaders.

For years, their efforts involved quiet sabotage. They meticulously misfiled conscription orders for Gelime's populace, and introduced microscopic, nearly imperceptible flaws into the manufacturing data of Dominion warships. These small acts were a form of intellectual protest, a way to resist without direct confrontation.

However, the nature of the occupation grew increasingly brutal. The Dominion's systematic extraction of Gelime's intellectual resources intensified, and the initial "Diplomatic Annexation" devolved into a full-blown police state. This escalation pushed the nascent movement towards radicalization.

The definitive tipping point came with the Dominion's purge of Dr. Edward Nelson's comprehensive archives. It was during this heinous act that the intellectuals of Gelime made a horrifying discovery. The invaders were not merely stealing history; they were actively weaponizing forbidden genetics, a dangerous field known as Maltech.

Realizing that logic and passive resistance alone would not save their people or their planet, The Null Hypothesis underwent a profound transformation. The movement splintered, with the older, more pacifist guard choosing to remain passive. However, a younger, more pragmatic generation rose to the challenge.

This new wave consisted of former lab assistants, engineers, and maintenance crews, who abandoned their previous roles to embrace a more direct form of resistance. They picked up wrenches, laser cutters, and even stolen riot gear, applying their genius not just to data, but to violence. They began to turn the Elegara system's extensive infrastructure into a sophisticated weapon.

This marked a drastic shift in their objectives. No longer content with merely erasing data, The Null Hypothesis now focuses on actively erasing occupiers from Gelime. Their current status reflects an escalating insurgency, moving decisively from targeted acts of sabotage to the more overt and dangerous realm of open urban warfare.
