Terran 'Mole' Mk IV Multi-Tool

Unknown

Here is a chronological history of the Tech (Mole Mk IV units):

In an era predating the Red Sun Dominion and the Sundering, the powerful Terran Empire meticulously planned a vast infrastructure expansion. To facilitate this ambitious project, thousands of Mole Mk IV units were created and subsequently stockpiled. These robust digging tools were placed in deep storage bunkers within the Sector Gamma mines.

However, the planned expansion never materialized. Instead, a catastrophic collapse devastated the Sector Gamma mines, trapping workers and burying vast sections of the complex. Following this disaster, the nascent Red Sun Dominion sealed off the mines entirely, leaving the Mole Mk IV units abandoned and forgotten.

For centuries, these durable tools lay hidden beneath millions of tons of rock, silent witnesses to the tragedy that entombed them. They rested amongst the very bones of the trapped workers who had tried in vain to dig themselves out. Over time, a shantytown known as The Tangle rose directly on the debris of this ancient disaster.

Recently, a pivotal discovery was made by scavengers within The Tangle. They managed to breach a fractured ventilation shaft, which serendipitously led to one of these long-lost supply lockers. The discovery unsealed a literal piece of the past, bringing it back into circulation.

These pre-Sundering tools, the Mole Mk IV units, are now rapidly flooding the black markets of Meristine. Despite their common appearance, their superior quality vastly outshines the cheap, disposable tools currently issued by the Red Sun Dominion. This stark contrast has transformed them into an unexpected symbol.

They represent a quiet form of resistance among the laborers, providing a tangible link to a more capable past. Currently, the Mole Mk IV units are in active circulation throughout The Tangle. They are frequently disguised as broken junk to prevent confiscation by the ever-watchful Red Sun Dominion, continuing their subtle role in chipping away at present-day oppression.
