Titan-Class Hull Spanner

Unknown

The Titan Class Spanner, colloquially known as the "Knuckle Dragger," was originally manufactured by the now defunct orbital foundries of the Trade Constellation. Its unknown creation date predates its widespread use, designed specifically for the demanding maintenance of Tier 4 Spike Drive engine housings. Renowned for its ability to apply thousands of newton-meters of torque to hull bolts, its exceptional density also rendered it nearly indestructible.

This robust tool became a staple in the vast shipbreaking yards of the Don System, proving invaluable for the heavy-duty tasks required there. Its nickname, "Knuckle Dragger," reflected both its unwieldy size for a standard human and its immense power.

A significant shift in its status occurred following the Red Sun Dominion's militarization of the Don System and the implementation of the notorious Harvest program. Recognizing its inherent potential as a weapon, the Titan Class Spanner was ostensibly banned from the Meristine Work Camps. This ban aimed to disarm the laborers and prevent rebellion.

However, the tools were far from eradicated; they were merely driven underground. Knuckle Draggers remained hidden, secreted away in maintenance crawlspaces and other clandestine locations within the camps. Here, they were frequently repurposed by the gene-bulked laborers and insurgents who valued their raw power.

In the hands of a standard human, the Knuckle Dragger remains an unwieldy burden. Yet, when wielded by a genetically modified laborer or a powered armor trooper, it transforms into a crushing bludgeon, capable of denting riot armor with devastating force. Today, these formidable tools are widely scavenged and remain in active, if illicit, use, enduring long beyond their original manufacturing purpose.
