Meristine Work Camp A2

07 April 4140

The independent settlement on Meristine, founded on 07 April 4140, once thrived as a beacon of autonomy. However, its fate irrevocably changed following the Red Sun Dominion's sweeping conquest of the Don Star System. The Dominion, in its relentless pursuit of resources and control, forcibly seized the settlement and transformed it into Meristine Work Camp A2.

This facility quickly became a notorious symbol of oppression, integral to the Dominion's network of harsh labor camps. Its primary purpose was the brutal extraction of Osmium, a vital mineral for spike drive technology, which fueled the Dominion's vast galactic fleet. Overseers maintained iron-fisted control, crushing any whispers of rebellion with ruthless efficiency.

The environmental cost was immense, with the camp's aggressive expansion and industrial practices devastating the local flora and fauna. Beyond its resource output, Work Camp A2 served as a grim deterrent, its existence a stark warning to any who might challenge the Dominion's authority. Tales of hardship and suffering became synonymous with its name.

The camp's brutal regime faced its first major challenge on 14 January 4160, during an event known as "The Cacophony of the Call." Insurgents initiated a daring plan, deploying a sonic device within the camp. This weapon successfully summoned a massive swarm of aggressive Maleks, which overwhelmed the Red Sun defenses and incited a widespread prison riot, plunging the camp into chaos.

Just two days later, on 16 January 4160, the insurgents launched a decisive follow-up attack. Led by the crew of the vessel Misfortune's Gambit, this coordinated assault, dubbed "The Meristine Ignition," targeted the heart of the Dominion's operation. The primary Osmium facility on Meristine was utterly destroyed, and the planetary Warden was assassinated amidst the devastation.

Meristine Work Camp A2 did not survive these cataclysmic events. Overrun by Maleks and crippled by insurgent action, the facility was completely destroyed. It now stands as a desolate ruin, a testament to both the Dominion's cruelty and the fierce struggle for liberation.
