The Plate Spaceport

10 June 4088

-

16 January 4160

On 10 June 4088, the Meristine Plate was founded. It was constructed during the intense final days of the Red Sun Dominion's conquest of Meristine. The Dominion sought to secure the planet, believing it held indigenous anomaly technologies, making it a crucial linchpin for their expanding empire.

Over time, the Meristine Plate evolved into a sophisticated convergence point for interstellar activities. This was achieved by repurposing fragments of local structures, which once symbolized indigenous harmony with the stars. Reinforcing these remnants with cutting-edge Dominion technology, the spaceport became both a formidable bulwark and a living testament to the Dominion's unrelenting pursuit of territorial dominion.

The spaceport played host to numerous pivotal events, serving as a luminous beacon of authority within the now chaotic Don System. However, this authority was challenged on 14 January 4160, during an insurgent operation dubbed 'Caustic Echoes.' This daring mission aimed to cripple the Red Sun Dominion by targeting a critical osmium cache located within the Meristine Spaceport.

With their leader injured, a new recruit, Seren Dannis, stepped up to lead the complex operation. The plan relied heavily on Finley, a janitor and double agent, to provide easy access, despite the significant risk of betrayal. Seren's leadership proved crucial amidst this high-stakes gamble against such a dangerous and unreliable ally.

The culmination of insurgent efforts arrived swiftly, with 'The Meristine Ignition' on 16 January 4160. Fugitives allied with local resistance launched a daring two-pronged assault against the tyrannical Red Sun Dominion. They unleashed a bio-engineered insectoid swarm and successfully assassinated the Spaceport's Warden.

With Seren Dannis's crucial help, the insurgents then detonated the Meristine Ignition, destroying the vital spaceport. This catastrophic event crippled Dominion logistics and left a smoking crater where the buildings once stood. The Meristine Plate was officially abandoned on this same day, its purpose irrevocably ended.

The destruction of the Meristine Plate ignited a wider rebellion across the system, though it also sparked anarchy. While it successfully crippled the Red Sun Dominion's osmium supply, the act promised a brutal Dominion retaliation. The Meristine Plate now stands as a destroyed ruin.
