Backstory

Born in the twilight of the Elegara System's golden age, Dr. Edward Nelson was once a brilliant mind dedicated to the preservation of life, a pursuit that ironically led to his cursing with vampirism. For over a millenia, he existed as a creature of the night, roaming the shadows and hoarding knowledge while desperately seeking a reversal for his condition. His memory of the cure is fractured; he recalls only working for the Mortal Veil to create the 'Transference' a forbidden process that somehow cured him of his vampirism. He awoke from this procedure aboard a stranded sleeper ship with no memory of the specific event, physically restored to a 43-year-old human state.

Now a member of ' The Misfortunates ,' a faction born from the prisoners being transported to Meristine , Edward serves as their resident academic and historian. He navigates the Sundered Spiral aboard ' The Raven's Maneuver ,' offering his encyclopedic knowledge of lost civilizations to the crew.

Description

Dr. Edward Nelson is a slender, ethereal figure who appears to be a human male of 43 years, though his eyes hold the weight of nearly nine centuries. He has strikingly pale, almost translucent skin, large soulful blue eyes that seem to look through people rather than at them, and wispy silver hair that floats as if caught in a static charge. His attire is a chaotic but charming blend of eras: a vintage, high-collared Victorian-style waistcoat and cravat paired with futuristic, utilitarian synth-weave trousers and magnetic boots. He is rarely seen without his antique brass pocket watch, the Celestial Echo Chronometer, which casts a faint, rhythmic golden light against his chest.
