Backstory

Ozan RedBerry was born into a life of service, the son of a respected squire in a noble house. It was expected he would follow in his father's footsteps, but from a young age, a deep-seated fear held him back. During his squire trials, he consistently failed tests of courage, freezing in the face of mock combat and flinching from the slightest danger. Shamed and unable to follow the path of a warrior, his family's patrons took pity on him, granting him a position as a courtier.

In the world of courtly intrigue, Ozan learned to hide his insecurity behind a mask of piety and diligence. He turned to the gods, not out of pure faith, but in a desperate search for the courage he lacked, eventually taking the oaths of a Paladin as a shield for his soul, just as his armor was a shield for his body. His stalky 5'1" frame and bushy beard made him seem more resolute than he felt, an image he carefully cultivated.

His life took a turn when he was approached by the mysterious Yaldra, a figure who had also aided the fugitive princess Sachia 'Shannon' Roxley. Yaldra tasked Ozan with accompannying Sachia and protecting her in her exile. To further project an image of bravery and to hide from his suspected complicity, he has since enlisted as a soldier with the Knights of Ubba, his gleaming armor a testament to a courage he does not possess.
