Uriel was born an Aasimar in the sprawling metropolis of Coia City, a fact that made his childhood both a blessing and a curse. His divine heritage was obvious, marking him as different from the populace still reeling from the after-effects of the Shadow War. He found solace and purpose within the grand walls of the Silvanus Cathedral, dedicating himself to the worship of Luna, the Moon Goddess. Under the tutelage of the high priests, he learned to channel his innate divine power not as a weapon, but as a balm for the wounded and a light for the lost.
Seeking a quieter life where he could be of more direct service, Uriel accepted a position at a small sanctuary in the village of Herthe, a remote settlement nestled in the foothills of the Iron Mountain. Despite his towering height, crimson skin, and stern, otherworldly features, the villagers came to respect and love him for his unwavering kindness and helpful nature. He became the heart of the small community, offering healing, guidance, and a steady hand in uncertain times.
Uriel's deepest secret, however, is a burden of cosmic proportions, wrapped in utter absurdity. He is convinced that he is personally responsible for holding back the apocalypse. Years ago, he received a 'divine vision' instructing him in a daily ritual to keep the recently-deactivated Bukhara Spire Gateways sealed. The ritual, which involves humming at a specific pitch while arranging three rare, Moon-Kissed Turnips, was in fact the fabrication of a bored pixie. Uriel, however, took it as a sacred duty. When the gateways recently began showing signs of reactivation, he was thrown into a crisis of faith, believing he must have performed the ritual imperfectly. Now, he is secretly terrified, convinced that a single misplaced turnip could unleash demonic hordes upon Coia, a secret he would die to protect lest the world discover its fate rests upon a vegetable ceremony.
