Backstory

Mary Leibowitz Jr. was born in the Thos system, inheriting a lineage of small-time criminal ambition. The Leibowitz family had long been a minor presence among the Spiral's backwater outpost settlements, dealing in odds and ends from scavenged starship components to contraband goods. Influenced by familial traditions and the lore of ancient, enduring civilizations, Mary was determined to elevate his family's status by any means necessary.

At a young age, he showed a remarkable talent for navigating the twisted, lawless echelons of the Spiral's smuggling routes. After gambling away borrowed credits from an illicit syndicate led by the notorious Pirate Queen Heldra Vance, Mary found himself drowning in debt.

This forced him into bold schemes to recover his loss and usurp control over lesser criminal ranks. Ambition and desperation intertwined as he plotted to utilize lost artifacts to bypass critical trade routes—a plan that could either lead to fortune or demolish him entirely.
