Backstory

Born Xalyth'rae in the oppressive darkness of Menzoberranzan, the drow now known as 'Whitey' was once a meticulous scribe for a minor house. He found no solace in the treacherous politics of his people, instead becoming obsessed with the city's scarce light sources—bioluminescent fungi, rare magical glows, and the faint heat of magma flows. He studied and cataloged them, filling ledgers with data on their properties, an act of quiet rebellion against the all-consuming dark. This strange fascination was deemed a dangerous eccentricity. Eventually, he orchestrated a daring escape to the surface world. The first time he witnessed a sunrise, the experience was so profound it shattered his old identity. He forsook his gods and his name, adopting the moniker 'Whitey'—first given to him in mockery by a human—and the title 'The Radiant One'. He now wanders Coia, a self-proclaimed acolyte of 'The Light' itself, viewing it as a pure, divine force of order and hope. He uses the precise, analytical skills honed in The Underdark to fulfill a new, sacred purpose: to chart and understand every source of light, believing that within its measurable properties lies the ultimate truth of the cosmos.

Description

A male Drow with sharp, intelligent features. His skin is a pale, ashen grey, a stark contrast to the traditional obsidian hue of his kin, a result of his years spent on the surface. His stark white hair is long, immaculately clean, and tied back in a simple, practical tail. His eyes are the most striking feature: not the common red of the Drow, but a bright, luminous silver that seems to catch and amplify any available light. He is dressed in simple, yet well-kept, acolyte's robes of white and pale gold, with numerous, neatly stitched pockets holding scrolls, lenses, and measuring instruments. He is never without the large, brass-cornered ledger he carries, its pages filled with meticulous handwriting and complex diagrams.
