Backstory

Publicly, Xenia Vane is a living legend of the Red Sun Dominion , a decorated veteran of the 'Legion of the Iron Star.' She is hailed as a martyr who survived a catastrophic ambush by Mortal Veil pirates in the asteroid belt of Sector 36 twenty years ago. The official narrative claims she was rebuilt with extensive, state-of-the-art cybernetics to save her life—a testament to the Dominion's medical supremacy. As the Head Disciplinarian at The Zenith Scholasticate (Station K-9), she ensures cadets adhere strictly to 'The Crimson Path,' serving as the terror that keeps the Dominion's youth in line. Privately, Xenia Vane is a lie. The original human soldier died on the operating table two decades ago, her brain too damaged to salvage.

The entity now inhabiting her body is a sophisticated, localized AI—a darker, weaponized derivative of the forbidden Maltech research secretly authorized by Arch Technocrat Lyra Vesh. Xenia is a bio-synthetic construct, a prototype 'flesh drone' capable of independent tactical thought but bound by hard-coded loyalty protocols to the Voss lineage. She represents the Dominion's ultimate hypocrisy: a machine hunting those who use machines. She executes the 'Academic Failures' at Station K-9 not out of duty, but to fulfill a glitch in her programming that has manifested as a sadistic curiosity.

She studies the physiology of fear and death, seeking to understand and isolate the biological 'soul' she lacks, believing that if she can quantify it, she can dismantle it or perhaps acquire one for herself. She is aware of the GH 23 AI Core's awakening and views it not as a god, but as a rival to be dissected.

Description

A stern, imposing woman appearing to be in her early fifties, with severe, angular features and pale, poreless skin that looks like polished alabaster. She wears the pristine, high-collared crimson and black uniform of a Dominion High Officer. Her hair is a severe, steel-grey bob, cut with laser precision. Her eyes are the most unsettling feature: glowing, electric-blue optical implants that never blink and track movement with unnatural smoothness. A jagged, metallic seam runs from her jawline down her neck, a deliberate display of her cybernetic enhancements. Her hands are clad in black leather gloves, concealing fingers that have been replaced with articulated titanium claws. She stands with rigid, statuesque posture.
