Backstory

Jax Vane is a low-level logistics officer and laborer for the Red Sun Dominion stationed at The Meristine Plate Spaceport. To his superiors, he is a tireless worker with a knack for inventory management and a dour, antisocial disposition that keeps him focused on the job. In reality, Jax is a deeply embedded operative for The Mortal Veil .

Born on a Dominion-occupied fringe world, Jax and his twin brother, Dax , were conscripted into labor battalions at age 16. While Dax was sent to the experimental cyber-integration program in Meristine 's Research Camp T7, Jax showed an aptitude for heavy lifting and heavy paperwork, landing him a spot on The Plate Spaceport.

Jax utilizes his position to function as a 'Scarcity Broker.' He deliberately misfiles shipments, creates artificial shortages of food and fuel, and flags functional equipment as 'defective.' He then funnels these 'lost' resources to Mortal Veil cells operating in the Don system or sells them on the black market to fund local resistance efforts. He is practical to a fault; he will let a fellow worker take a beating to maintain his cover, viewing every action through the lens of net gain for the rebellion. He communicates with the Veil via coded inventory anomalies in the Spaceport's public trade logs.

Jax recently went MIA while on a mission for The Mortal Veil.

Description

Jax is a wiry, muscular man with the gaunt, hollow-cheeked look of someone who works double shifts and sleeps little. He has pale skin that hasn't seen natural sunlight in years, contrasting with the dark grease stains that seem permanently etched into his fingerprints. His hair is a buzzed, regulation military cut, dark brown and stiff. He wears the grey and crimson utilitarian jumpsuit of the Dominion Logistics Corps, usually unzipped slightly at the top to reveal a sweat-stained undershirt. His eyes are a piercing, cold blue, constantly darting to check manifest screens or watch for superiors. He moves with the heavy, deliberate gait of a man used to wearing magnetic boots.
