The planet now known as Kozan, the second inhabitable world of the Vini Nehana system, began its existence as a stark contrast to its eventual grimy state. In an unknown era before the galaxy's cataclysm, it was Paradise Station Alpha, a premier tropical resort world for the Terran elite. Meticulously terraformed, Kozan was designed to be an eternal summer, offering pristine warmth and luxury.

This idyllic existence was shattered in 3200 CE with the event known as the Sundering. The catastrophic galaxy-wide event broke the planet's intricate atmospheric regulators, plunging Kozan into a radical new climate. The equatorial zones spiraled into hyper-humid, aggressive jungle growth, while the massive climate control heat sinks at the poles malfunctioned permanently. This locked the northern and southern extremes in perpetual, unnatural glaciation, making Kozan the only world in the Vini Nehana system with ice caps.

For a millennium following the Sundering, during an era known as the Silence, Kozan was effectively abandoned by the wider galaxy. The remaining survivors—descendants of hotel staff, maintenance crews, and stranded billionaires—devolved into tribal scavenger gangs. They ruthlessly stripped the luxury arcologies down to their skeletons, constructing sprawling shantytowns from plasteel and even gold filigree.

During this period, the atmosphere, thick with unbridled ionization from the broken terraformers, created a permanent Radio Silence shroud around the planet. This made long-range communication impossible and rendered sensors unreliable. This natural stealth, however, would later prove to be its salvation, or perhaps its ultimate curse.

In 4151 CE, the Mortal Veil seized control of the Vini Nehana system, immediately recognizing Kozan's unique advantages. Under the protection of Pirate Queen Heldra Vance, Kozan rapidly transformed into the sector's largest chop shop and black market. It became an aggressive frontier outpost where the Mortal Veil dumped stolen Red Sun Dominion frigates to be stripped for parts.

Today, Kozan's landscape is a graveyard of starships, where aggressive vines strangle hull plating and makeshift barricades are erected from millions of credits worth of pre-tech scrap. While its neighbor, Sylvaris, provides the brains of the Mortal Veil operation, Kozan supplies the raw materials and the muscle. The planet's aggressive and resourceful inhabitants care little for the politics of the Spiral, living life one scavenged circuit board at a time.

Currently an Anarchic Scavenger Hub, Kozan's unique resources continue to be exploited. Its ice caps are now mined for pure ancient water and rare pre-tech coolants, frozen within the glacial sheets. This resource is almost as valuable as the Osmium stripped from the endless hulls that litter the planet, cementing Kozan's role as a vital, if brutal, hub in the Mortal Veil's operations.
