Bulezau - History

History

Bulezau

The Creature belongs to the Bulezau strain of demons, a particularly vile species first unleashed upon Coia during the devastating Shadow War. Through corrupted Bukhara Spire Gateways, these fiends served as elite shock troops and assassins, employing plague and discord to destabilize Coia's defenses with brutal effectiveness. While their numbers dwindled after the war, they were never truly vanquished, instead lingering in forgotten, tainted places like the Cave of Rot.

A specific Bulezau demon, referred to here as "the Creature," first manifested on Coia on 07 July 0. After a period of activity, this particular fiend was documented as having been destroyed or banished back to the Abyss on 22 October 0.

Centuries later, the reactivation of the Spire Gateways and the rise of powerful figures like the lich Velsharoon and the insane Archmage Ariel drew the Bulezau species from the shadows once more. Their buzzing drone and nauseating stench became a recognized harbinger of a deeper, more organized demonic threat, well-known to groups like the Dragonbone Vanguard.

In a significant encounter demonstrating this renewed Bulezau threat, a demonic corruption plagued the Cave of Rot near Berkeso on 01 April 1248. Adventurers, responding to Lord Arris's bounty, bravely delved into the cavern, battling Dretches, Imps, and a twisted Rutterkin. They ultimately faced and defeated a formidable Bulezau, which Warrior Nym decapitated. This hard-won victory earned their reward, marked their first strike against extra-planar forces, and initiated a chilling demonic vision, setting them on a path to uncover a much larger abyssal plot.

Despite its previous recorded demise on 22 October 0, "the Creature" – a specific Bulezau entity tracked within arcane circles – is currently active and healthy. This suggests it has reformed in the Abyss and returned to the material plane or manifested anew. Its existence continues to pose a significant and ongoing threat, distinct from the Bulezau encountered and destroyed at Berkeso.
