Following the tumultuous events of the Shadow War and the subsequent corruption of the Bukhara Spire Gateways, the Veilkeepers' purpose underwent a dramatic and necessary shift. Their focus turned from general order to actively combating the rising tide of chaotic energies unleashed upon the world, a task that further solidified their austere methods.

In 1232, the Order faced a significant setback when their reputation was tarnished during the Shroud of the Red Cloaks heist. Thieves employed sophisticated sonic magic to disorient the Veilkeepers, enabling them to successfully steal a Cubic Gate. This event exposed a critical vulnerability in their defenses.
