History

House Dhunnarn

House Dhunnarn has long asserted itself through brute strength and martial pride within Menzoberranzan, viewing the intricate magical pursuits of rivals like House T'Sarran with utter contempt. Their philosophy prizes direct, overwhelming force above all else, making them a formidable and often reckless power. When Zilvra T'Sarran, under a new identity, began spreading exaggerated tales of her mother's dangerous extra-planar experiments, House Dhunnarn saw the perfect pretext. They moved to eliminate a long-standing competitor, driven by their inherent ambition.

Fueled by their characteristic recklessness, House Dhunnarn eagerly championed the formation of a coalition to destroy House T'Sarran. They believed they were acting as the saviors of the city, intending to restore balance. In reality, their rashness made them the perfect brutal pawns in Zilvra's intricate conspiracy to seize power. Matron Elvath T'Sarran's ambitious and ruthless leadership had allowed her house to rise quickly, breeding deep-seated fear and resentment.

Seeing House T'Sarran as an existential threat to the delicate balance of power, the matron mothers of House Bedjir, House Dhunnarn, and House Nuarnn forged a secret, unholy alliance. Their goal was not merely to humble House T'Sarran, but to utterly annihilate it, erasing its name from drow history. This act would serve as a dire example for any who dared challenge the established order.

On the night of June 4th, 1241, known as The Night of Shattering, the allied houses launched their meticulously planned assault. Elite Shadowblade assassins from Houses Bedjir, Dhunnarn, and Nuarnn infiltrated the T'Sarran Estate, bypassing its formidable magical wards with inside knowledge. The attack was swift and merciless; the T'Sarran guards were systematically eliminated, and the grand estate was set ablaze with magical fire. Most of the family was slaughtered in the ensuing chaos.

Sszardin T'Sarran fought valiantly but was ultimately overwhelmed, his last conscious memory being the sight of three shadowy assassins, their house sigils glinting in the firelight, standing over his defeated form. He awoke in a prison cell, the sole scapegoat and presumed last survivor, saved only to be made a public spectacle. The rival houses celebrated this ultimate victory.

Publicly, House Dhunnarn is now celebrated as the heroic savior of Menzoberranzan, enjoying the spoils of their rival’s destruction. Internally, however, the House is consumed by a paranoid and reckless hunt for the truth. This erratic behavior increasingly threatens to expose their own unwitting role in the very conspiracy they seek to uncover.
