Chest

Unknown

On 17 July 1, the simple container known as the Spirewood Chest began its long and storied journey. Fashioned from the uniquely resilient wood of trees growing near the magically infused Bukhara Spires, these chests were initially modest in design. Their mass production coincided with the advent of the Shadow War, marking the beginning of their widespread use across Coia.

As Coia descended into the Shadow War and the subsequent five-century Civil War, these robust chests became ubiquitous. They were employed by all factions, serving essential roles for merchants utilizing the Bukhara Spire Gateways and for armies clashing across the continent. Their inherent resilience made them ideal for surviving the harsh realities of constant conflict and travel.

The contents of these chests were as diverse as the factions that used them. Many transported mundane supplies vital for daily life or military campaigns, while others securely locked away dangerous artifacts recovered from extra-planar incursions. They also held the personal effects of fallen soldiers, serving as silent keepers of lost memories and legacies.

It was not uncommon to find a Spirewood Chest in the ruins of places like Highborne Summit, perhaps still safeguarding the forgotten belongings of a demon who once sought refuge there. Similarly, a wandering exile like Sszardin T Sarran might possess one, carrying the last vestiges of a lost house within its sturdy frame. Today, countless Spirewood Chests remain scattered across Coia, many held in storage. Each awaits discovery, ready to be filled anew or to reveal the forgotten secrets of its past.
