Glamoured Studded Leather

Unknown

The Guise of the Twilight Walker, a masterful creation of Shadowkin artisans, was forged in the twilight era of the Shadowfell. Crafted from the shadowy essence of the realm, it was intended for diplomats who needed to navigate the bright lands of Coia without inciting the suspicion of its superstitious inhabitants. This remarkable armor was completed on 28 September 1.

Shortly after its creation, a devastating cataclysm struck the Shadowfell, plunging it into eternal darkness and undeath. Foreseeing the impending corruption, a vigilant artisan meticulously hid the Guise of the Twilight Walker within a lead-lined chest. This chest was then buried deep beneath the gnarled roots of a petrified Elder Tree, shielding the armor from the twisting magic that ravaged the land.

For centuries, the Guise remained undisturbed and forgotten in the silent ruins of the Shadowfell, its ancient magic waiting patiently. It lay entombed, a relic of a time before the realm's eternal twilight, untouched by the undeath that permeated its surroundings.

Recently, the fabric of reality shuddered as chaotic ripples of Wild Magic surged from the Iron Mountain in Coia. These powerful tremors propagated across planar boundaries, weakening and eventually cracking the petrified roots that had guarded the armor for so long. The protective seal was broken, exposing the hidden chest to the light for the first time in an age.

The chest and its contents were likely discovered by a wandering scavenger, such as Retta or Nicodemus Hartwick, who might have stumbled upon it in the desolate Shadowfell ruins. Alternatively, it could have been drawn through a thinning veil near a reactivated Bukhara Spire Gateway, appearing in an unexpected location.

Currently, the Guise of the Twilight Walker has been recently unearthed. Though dusty from its long interment, it remains entirely functional and retains its ancient properties. Mechanically, it operates as Glamoured Studded Leather, providing AC 12 + Dex modifier and allowing its wearer to alter its appearance with a simple command word.

Furthermore, because it endured the great corruption of the Shadowfell while hidden, the armor absorbed a powerful Shadow Echo. There is a 20% chance that if the wearer rolls a Natural 1 on a Stealth check, the armor will react defensively to the failure. In such an event, it instantly casts Invisibility on the wearer until the start of their next turn, giving the impression that they vanish into a cloud of harmless black smoke. This unique feature can only activate once per dawn.
