Flute

Unknown

On 05 November 1, deep within the mining settlement of Ironhold, this flute was meticulously carved by a miner. Known locally as a shift whistle, such instruments were a common sight, crafted during long breaks in the depths of the Iron Mountain. They served a vital purpose, echoing melodies through the subterranean passages.

For many years, this specific shift whistle would have been used to signal the end of strenuous work shifts or to locate separated work crews. Its sound, a familiar comfort, acted as a beacon in the echoing darkness of the tunnels. Its existence was purely practical, a simple yet essential tool of the mining trade.

More recently, Ironhold experienced powerful tremors that dramatically altered the fate of many objects within the settlement. These geological disturbances unsealed a hidden chamber deep within the Iron Mountain, unleashing chaotic ripples of Wild Magic into the surrounding environment. This particular flute, unfortunately, was exposed to these destabilizing energies.

It was recovered near the very site where the sorceress Ursula Nachthex's influence was strongest, absorbing some of the raw, unpredictable magic. Consequently, when played, there is now a 20% chance the flute will emit a harmless shower of magical sparks or briefly harmonize with the wind. This minor, unpredictable side effect is a direct result of the region's destabilized Weave.

Today, this unassuming musical instrument sits amidst other forgotten wares in a bargain bin at a general store in Ironhold. It remains largely overlooked by adventurers constantly seeking more powerful relics. Its subtle magical nature is hidden beneath a layer of dust, awaiting discovery.
