The Meristine Plate Spaceport Lower Decks were founded on 01 June 4103. They were originally constructed as the foundational infrastructure for the Meristine Plate itself, specifically designed to manage the immense influx of resources flowing from the recently subdued Meristine system.
As the main spaceport above continued to develop and expand, the lower levels gradually transitioned into a more utilitarian role. These subterranean areas evolved into vast storage facilities and critical maintenance bays, forming an indispensable part of the Red Sun Dominion's operational machinery.
Throughout their existence, the labyrinthine corridors of the Lower Decks witnessed a myriad of activities. They served as silent witnesses to clandestine meetings, the covert plotting of insurrections, and the routine upkeep of vital Dominion vessels. The footsteps of countless laborers, rebels, and soldiers echoed through every corner, a testament to their continuous and multifaceted use under Dominion control.
The fate of the Lower Decks irrevocably changed on 16 January 4160, with the calamitous event known as The Meristine Ignition. Fugitives, in alliance with local resistance forces, launched a daring two-pronged assault against the tyrannical Red Sun Dominion. Their actions included unleashing a bio-engineered insectoid swarm and successfully assassinating the Warden of the facility.
With crucial assistance from Seren Dannis, the insurgents then detonated the Meristine Ignition. This catastrophic act destroyed the vital spaceport, including the Lower Decks, by igniting an osmium cache located beneath the structure. The destruction crippled Dominion logistics, igniting a wider rebellion across the system.
While The Meristine Ignition sparked widespread insurgency, it also plunged the region into anarchy and guaranteed a brutal retaliation from the Red Sun Dominion. The Meristine Plate Spaceport Lower Decks, once a bustling hub of storage and maintenance, were utterly destroyed during this insurgent attack, leaving only a smoking crater where the buildings once stood.
