Sump-734

08 April 4110

-

16 January 4160

The processing facility known as Sump 734 was officially founded on 08 April 4110, becoming a key industrial site within Meristine. Its operational life, however, would be tragically cut short by the encroaching Red Sun Dominion.

Sometime prior to January 4160, the Dominion completed its conquest of Meristine Sump. During these final, brutal days, the last organized indigenous resistance fighters were cornered within Sump 734. Rather than engage in a costly siege, Dominion forces deployed an experimental neurotoxin, pumping it directly into the facility's ventilation systems.

This act of war not only eradicated the resistance but also caused an unforeseen chemical reaction with the industrial compounds already present. The result was a permanently highly toxic environment within Sump 734. The facility was subsequently abandoned, its official records sealed, becoming a hidden tomb for the Dominion's war crimes.

Years later, on 14 January 4160, a new generation of insurgents prepared to strike a major blow against the Dominion. They targeted a critical osmium cache at the vital Meristine Spaceport, a significant logistical hub. With their original leader incapacitated, new recruit Seren Dannis bravely stepped up to lead the dangerous operation, relying on the risky assistance of Finley, a janitor and double agent.

The culmination of these efforts came swiftly on 16 January 4160, during a coordinated "Meristine Ignition" assault. Fugitives allied with local resistance fighters launched a daring two-pronged attack against the tyrannical Red Sun Dominion. They unleashed a bio-engineered insectoid swarm and successfully assassinated the Warden, sowing chaos and fear.

With Seren Dannis playing a pivotal role, the insurgents achieved their objective, detonating the Meristine Ignition. This catastrophic event obliterated the Meristine Spaceport, crippling Dominion logistics and igniting a wider rebellion across the system. The insurgent attack, which targeted The Plate Spaceport and ignited an osmium cache beneath it, also encompassed the precise location of Sump 734.

The underlying industrial complex, already a toxic wasteland, was completely destroyed in the explosion, leaving nothing but a smoking crater where its buildings once stood. On 16 January 4160, Sump 734 was officially marked as abandoned, its very existence erased by the fires of rebellion. While sparking anarchy and promising brutal Dominion retaliation, this act effectively removed a dark scar from Meristine's history.
