The Grand Concourse Hangar, originally designated Sector 7G, was founded on 01 December 4099. It emerged as a marvel of rapid brutalist construction during the Red Sun Dominion's initial military conquest of Meristine. The civilian-led Meristine Engineering Corps, established to repurpose indigenous structures, oversaw its initial development. Their mission was to establish crucial infrastructure for the Dominion's control.
However, this civilian oversight was not to last indefinitely. By 4155 CE, secure Dominion archives recorded a formal Operational Handover to the Red Sun Dominion's 3rd Logistical Battalion. The official reason cited for this significant shift was gross inefficiencies and pervasive budgetary overruns attributed to the civilian corps.
In reality, this pivotal transition was orchestrated by then-Major Lyra Norel. Her true objective was to consolidate military control over the increasingly vital flow of Osmium and prisoner transports from Meristine. Norel recognized the hangar's strategic importance and moved to secure it directly under military authority.
Following the handover, the hangar's administrative framework transformed into a labyrinth of military-grade regulations. Every docking clamp, fuel line, and cargo container became subject to triplicate forms and extensive chain of command approvals. This complex system, designed for stringent control, also became ripe for exploitation by those adept at navigating its intricate protocols.
The Grand Concourse Hangar's oppressive utility met a violent end on 16 January 4160, during "The Meristine Ignition." Fugitives, allied with local resistance, launched a daring two-pronged assault against the tyrannical Red Sun Dominion. With Seren Dannis's assistance, they successfully detonated the Meristine Ignition.
This catastrophic event destroyed The Plate Spaceport, which in turn ignited a massive Osmium cache located underneath. The resulting explosion entirely obliterated The Grand Concourse Hangar, crippling Dominion logistics across the planet. This audacious act sparked wider rebellion, though it also ushered in a period of anarchy and the grim promise of brutal Dominion retaliation.
Today, a smoking crater marks the site where the hangar once stood. This grim monument stands as a testament to both its dark past and its violent, transformative end.
