Polyied

21 April 2809

For centuries, during a period known as the Silence, the Polyied system remained a beautiful yet perilous navigational hazard. Hidden within the verdant, sensor-scrambling interference of the Veridian Shroud nebula, its binary stars, the dying red giant Aethelgard and the fierce white dwarf Moros, danced in isolated splendor. This remote celestial dance persisted, with only the most desperate of travelers daring to brave its treacherous reaches.

Then, ten years ago, a pivotal discovery dramatically shifted the system's fate. In 2799, High Spin Osmium was found within the asteroid belts orbiting Polyied's binary center. This dense, hyper-conductive isotope proved critical for stabilizing the warp bubble geometry of modern Spike Drives, instantly catapulting the Polyied system into galactic relevance.

Desperate to fuel its expansionist armada, the Red Sun Dominion (RSD) wasted no time. On April 21, 2809, the RSD annexed the system, establishing its presence and marking a new, violent chapter for Polyied. They immediately constructed the Ferrous Ring, a brutal orbital mining infrastructure designed to extract the precious Osmium.

Despite the Dominion's control over the asteroid belts, Polyied's single habitable jewel, Varathia, remained defiant. Ruled by the Ziemeists and their AI god, The Warden, Varathia has successfully repelled all atmospheric incursions, thanks to its ancient and powerful planetary shield generators. The Dominion, wary of destroying the invaluable Osmium reserves along with the planet, has opted for a starving siege rather than deploying their devastating Starkiller weapon.

Meanwhile, exploiting the nebula's dense interference, The Mortal Veil pirates emerged as a third major player. These opportunistic raiders frequently attack RSD ore haulers, further complicating the Dominion's operations. The Polyied system has thus devolved into a pressure cooker of greed, faith, and high-tech warfare, remaining under siege as a bitter resource war rages.
