Its inhabitants, the construct-like Cog-kin, existed solely to maintain the Great Machine's intricate functions.

During a tumultuous period known as the Shadow War, a crucial development occurred. The powerful Spire Gateways were created, forging a permanent link between the Chasm and the Bukhara Spires. This established a vital conduit for magical energies into the nascent region.

On 19 July 1, The Region was formally founded, marking its recognition as a distinct, organized entity. For centuries following this establishment, the Clockwork Chasm hummed steadily in the background. It acted as a silent, yet indispensable, partner to Coia’s intricate magical ecosystem, ensuring stability and magical flow.

However, this long period of harmony was eventually shattered. The Dragonbone Vanguard launched a destructive campaign, successfully destroying the crucial Spire Gateways. This act severed the permanent magical link, initiating a calamitous and unforeseen consequence for the Chasm.

The once-perfect plane immediately began to starve of the specific magical energies it needed to function. Consequently, a slow and inexorable decay commenced throughout The Region. Its logical order started to unravel, signaling a profound internal crisis.

This decay was tragically accelerated by another significant blow. Redevus Branch, operating within the Iron Mountain, created a potent anti-magic dead zone. This devastating act severed one of the Chasm's last remaining vital magical connections.

Today, the industrial landscape of The Region is visibly choked with the soot of its own decay. The Clockwork Chasm of Mechanus, the very heart of this land, is demonstrably grinding to a halt. Its intricate systems are failing, reflecting its current status as a dying realm.
