Backstory
Born to the grim, subterranean society of the Dueregar, Reve Adler found no honor or future in the endless toil of the Underdark. He fled to the surface world as a young man, a place just as harsh but filled with a light he'd never known. He took on the most grueling jobs—porter, mason, quarryman—his powerful build making him ideal for heavy labor, but his sharp mind longed for more. He eventually found his way to Vespera, the floating city, a marvel of ingenuity and a perfect sanctuary. For years, he was a simple laborer, helping to maintain the city's infrastructure, his past a closely guarded secret. It was during a structural survey that he made a terrifying discovery: the ancient spire crystals that held Vespera aloft were slowly, almost imperceptibly, losing their power. Terrified of the city falling from the sky, and driven by a fierce determination to protect his home, Reve delved into forbidden lore. His research led him to a terrible solution: a pact with a conniving entity from the Shadowfell. In exchange for his servitude, the entity taught him the art of creating 'Shadow-Fused Spire Crystals'—powerful, stable, and self-renewing. Reve secretly built a forge in the city's underbelly, and his new crystals replaced the failing old ones, securing Vespera's place in the sky. He used this newfound power and importance to reinvent himself as Reve Adler, a wealthy and indispensable merchant, trading rare goods created in his 'specialized' forge. He is now a respected, if stern, figure in Vespera's council, the savior who works in the shadows, his true price known only to him.
Description
A full-body portrait of Reve Adler, a male Dueregar General. He stands with an unyielding posture, his 5'2" frame dense with the muscle of a lifelong laborer. His skin is the color of deep ash, stretched taut over a broad face with a square, determined jaw. He is completely bald, his scalp and brow etched with faint, geometric scars that catch the light. His eyes are a piercing, pale lilac, devoid of pupils and glowing with a subtle, internal light. He wears masterfully crafted merchant's attire of dark purple and black leather, adorned with polished silver clasps that resemble crystalline structures. Embedded in the skin of his thick forearms are tiny, glowing shards of purple crystal, a visible sign of his unique craft. The background is his dimly lit forge, filled with strange tools and racks of glowing, pulsating purple crystals.
