Yarrah Moonshadow exists in the paradoxical intersection of Willowbrook's chaotic anarchy and the rigid, suffocating order of The Ark of the Unknowable. Born into the squalid 'Marsh-ends' of Willowbrook, she spent her youth as a 'gutter-runner,' a thief for hire navigating the shifting territories of the city's syndicates. However, at age 30—ancient for a street thief—she sought sanctuary at the Ark, trading her lockpicks for a quill to escape a bounty on her head.
Now, she serves as a Junior Scribe within the monastery. Despite her age, she is the lowest-ranking initiate, tasked with the mind-numbing bureaucracy of cataloging the dangers of Coia. Her superior, Senior Archivist Halloway, deeply resents her; he despises her cheerful disposition in the face of grim history and suspects her street-rat past stains the sanctity of their work. He assigns her the most tedious tasks, hoping she will quit.
However, Yarrah has not abandoned her old skills; she has merely repurposed them. She operates as a Robin Hood of information. She steals from the Ark's vaults—not gold, but secrets: blackmail material on corrupt guild leaders, locations of clean water sources, or legal loopholes to save families from debt slavery—and funnels this intel back to the local underclass.
Recently, while cataloging a crate salvaged from the ruins of a House of Silk manor, she found a ledger that implies the 'extinct' House still has living financiers embedded in Willowbrook's trade council. Since finding it, she has noticed shadowed figures tailing her when she leaves the monastery. She is terrified, knowing she has stolen a secret too big to handle alone, and desperately seeks powerful allies to protect her while she decodes the full truth.
