Backstory

Beyode Arison, known affectionately as 'Stitch' by the locals, occupies a precarious position in the social strata of Whisperwind. Publicly, he is the altruistic caretaker of the Theistad Estate's surface level, acting as the resident healer for the bohemian squatters and artists who have taken over the crumbling mansion. He runs a makeshift infirmary in the former grand foyer, embodying the motif of 'The Open Door' by refusing entry to no one, regardless of their ability to pay.

However, his helpful demeanor masks a treacherous double life. Years ago, Beyode was a combat medic for the Silk Guard, where he witnessed the brutality that Greyson Nightfall also saw. Disillusioned and debt-ridden, he was recruited by Greyson to infiltrate the Theistad Estate. His mission was to get close to the paranoid Meklen Theistad and monitor the progress of the 'Blood Forge' beneath the house. Beyode secured his position by treating Meklen’s burns from the BlueGleam ore, becoming one of the few people the smith trusts physically, if not emotionally.

Currently, Beyode is trapped. He has grown to care for the squatters he protects (the 'living camouflage' for the forge), but he owes Greyson undeniable debts. He knows that the weapon Meklen is forging could destroy the Dead Wyrm, but Greyson wants to steal it to buy passage off Coia. Beyode is paralyzed by the fear that his espionage will lead to the slaughter of the artists he has come to love, leaving him with 'Unfinished Work' of the soul.
