The Three Sages

08 May 539

Unknown

The formal inception of The Three Sages, more a strategic removal than a heroic genesis, occurred on 08 May 539. On this date, the High Readers of Candlekeep, exasperated by the persistent disruptions caused by three of their most troublesome residents, enacted a plan. This unlikely trio comprised Walter Bland, a Goliath whose mind was perpetually engrossed in the complex mathematics of chaos, Kal Rin, a monk whose principles forbade him from ever walking in a straight line, and Monk Monkerson, a sociopathic pit fighter cunningly disguised as an ascetic.

To prevent further incidents, such as the potential incineration of the library or a reordering of the restricted section by texture, these individuals were officially designated as Remote Archive Delta 9, or "The Oubliette." They were swiftly dispatched on what was described as a top-secret, indefinite mission to the formidable Iron Mountain. However, suffering from a shared and profound delusion of grandeur, the trio soon began to refer to themselves as "The Three Sages," believing they were an elite special operations unit codenamed "Task Force Nirvana."

Their journey commenced with their patient elephant companion, Bibi, whom Walter Bland steadfastly maintained was a hairy, organic abacus. Under this self-appointed mission, The Three Sages set out towards the epicenter of reported Wild Magic surges. Walter, in particular, was convinced that these chaotic energies represented a grand puzzle, ripe for meticulous cataloging within the pages of his personal ledger.

As of their last known location, The Three Sages are currently stalled at a crucial crossroads situated near the foothills of the Iron Mountain. They are embroiled in a heated debate over a localized Wild Magic surge that transformed a patch of verdant grass into fragile glass. The discussion revolves around whether this peculiar phenomenon represents a mere statistical outlier in the universe or a more profound, cosmic rebuke.

Oblivious to the true peril surrounding them, the trio remains entirely unaware that their chosen path leads directly into a burgeoning war zone. There, the anti-magic zealots of Redevus clash violently with the wild magic storms conjured by the ancient lich, Ursula, a conflict they are poised to stumble into without realizing the stakes.
