Founded: Unknown (Specifically, late 1248 as Fernsby's Pub) Abandoned: Not specified

In late 1248, shortly after the devastating destruction of the Herthe Gateway, a new establishment emerged within the chaotic vertical shantytown of Westcheap. This was Fernsby’s Pub, quickly becoming a staple for the displaced and dispossessed. Its owner, Silas Fernsby Krell, was a jittery Tiefling refugee seeking to carve out a new existence.

Silas, through a stroke of accidental discovery, found that the potent hallucinogenic magic pulsating from the city's central crater significantly improved the flavor of roasted beans. Unfortunately, this same magic ruined traditional ales, prompting a shift in the pub's specialty. Fernsby's Pub thus became known for its unique, hot caffeinated beverages, rather than conventional brews.

The pub itself was a marvel of salvaged ingenuity, constructed from the sturdy hull of a river barge. This peculiar vessel was magically tethered to a large, floating chunk of masonry, keeping it suspended near the very edge of the central crater. Its precarious location became part of its charm and mystique.

Operating on a strict barter system, Fernsby's Pub eschewed the non-existent gold standard of Westcheap. Silas readily traded his stimulating coffee for scrap metal, pieces of art, or valuable secrets. Because of its unique position and trade practices, the pub naturally evolved into a neutral ground for the "Unwanted" – a diverse collective of artists, failed wizards, and scavengers who sought solace and community.

Today, Fernsby's Pub continues to thrive, a beacon of activity amidst Westcheap's instability. The coffee flows freely, providing both warmth and an unusual magic to its patrons. However, an undercurrent of anxiety pervades the establishment, stemming from the creeping influence of the Red Cloaks gang, which threatens the pub's cherished neutrality. The unpredictable, unstable gravity of Westcheap also keeps everyone, including Silas, constantly on edge.
